hi, kids! here I am, attempting yet another blog! hooray!
I suppose that, in this first post, I should explain where I am today.
spring term is drawing to a close, I'm finishing up a media and society class, as well as a watercolour class. I'm finishing up the Seadryke avatar, and as of today, I have 10 animations and 4 colour schemes left (everything else is done, including the HUD). I'm attempting to do some watercolour paintings of my creatures, and though I've finally become decent with watercolour and realism, I'm struggling with painting the creatures (in colour). seems that whenever I go to do it in black and white mediums, I have no problems whatsoever. where I get crazy is where colours and stripes and gradients and whatnot are involved. just too much to handle, I guess! I'll get it eventually. realism makes it easy because I can look up any number of refs for what I'm looking at, or even set up my own props and lighting, but when it comes to my creatures, all I have are digital models and that's no good for me yet. as soon as I can visualise the colours in my head... we'll be getting somewhere. bleh!
I'm going home in about a week, and then after another week, I'm going to California to spend over a month with Sophia. very excited! not only do I get to see my lovey, but I have the opportunity to look into internships and digital 3D schools, and maybe find some classes or some work for myself (for when I move there in 2 years). I also will have ALOT of time to get to work on SL things, and I hope to do an entire creature avatar in that time, though that might be aiming alittle high knowing how slowly I work. haha. at the very least, I'll probably have a start on that and another manifestation of Kaz's dream creature trading post. I also want to start getting a story fleshed out about him/her, and some more details on the habits/lives of the creatures. oh and a new Kaz AV. tehe.
Ash invited me to join the Tyrell group to help rebuild Nexus Prime. I've always been intrigued by the city and was sad to see it go! I remember stumbling upon it some day in my newbie days, full of lag on my old 1998 Dell, getting something like a frame a second. I found some of Slade's prim-o-licious creations and had to stop and stare for awhile, because I just couldn't look away, because my client had frozen : O anyway, though abit outdated, Nexus Prime has always been a source of inspiration to me, and it's truly an honour to be invited to the team. thanks, Ash! ♥
over this last week, Malady Bog, part of the Wastelands sims, has been opened. the theme is solid and the builds really take it and run with it! Neo and I are in the process of creating some roaming creatures for the sim, both ones you can shoot, and ones that want to be your friend~
so, looks like alot of stuff for me to do! better get workin'!
